When we first hit the road full-time over 12 years ago, we were total newbs. When we purchased our first RV (sight unseen, over the internet, 3,000 miles away!), we had literally never spent a single night on one.
Since the dealer was more interested in collecting our signatures and money (no surprise there) than in helping us understand the new and confusing piece of equipment we’d just purchased, we were left to our own devices to figure it all out.
Our four-day, 3,000 mile cross-country trip home was just the beginning of a long-term learning process.
After all these years, we have of course learned to manage our systems quite well. Our geeky, anal-rententive nature has been especially helpful in the process. Figuring out the best way to do things has its benefits. When we see a problem, we get a lot of satisfaction from figuring out a solution, or learning one from other RVers.
In this video, we’ve featured 10 of our favorite little tips and tricks to make RVing easier. Not that we’ve included anything Earth shattering, but we’ll bet that even a seasoned full-timer might pick up an idea or two that they hadn’t thought of before.
Yes, we do still occasionally hear about, or figure out, new ways to do things. Although at this point, those epiphanies are more often accompanied by a “DOH!” and “What took us so long to figure that out?)!
As eager as we are to find solutions, if we’re still learning after all this time, others probably are too.
So we hope you enjoy our tips, and maybe add a new one or two to your repertoire. Please add your comments below with your own tricks and advice. Don’t be stingy… share your secrets with the rest of us!
