This fun do-it-yourself craft project doesn’t take much in the way of supplies or time – but it looks great! I came across this little house made of simple dish sponges covered with grass at WonderfulDIY. You could make this house in your own trailer or park model, or show others how to built it at the next crafting day. Dish sponges are cheap, grass seed doesn’t cost much either, and you can use your imagination to create any design you want – what’s not to love?

While you might wonder if the grass grows well inside the sponges, don’t worry. Sponges are porous and provide ample room for the grass seed to take root and sprout. The small holes in the sponges hold water droplets, and provide a good growing environment. To make the basic house seen in the photo above you’ll need:
- four brightly-colored kitchen sponges
- a medium-sized Tupperware container
- marker, scissors, and ruler
- a spray bottle
- and some grass seed
