Most vans are pretty basic. They come with the same general layout and hardly any storage space. Wanting something that could fit all of his outdoor gear, Matt from Vanlife.tv decided to try his own custom van conversion.
After living in and out of vans for fifteen years, Matt had a good idea of what he was looking for. Something simple, but cozy. Spacious, but small enough to fit on the narrow roads in Dartmoor, Southern England, where he spends much of his time rock climbing and bouldering. The end result? A van with an absolutely gorgeous, rustic wooden interior.
It took Matt about four months to build. Showing amazing craftsmanship, this van has just enough storage to hold everything he needs, but still leaves enough open space so it doesn’t feel too crowded.
The interior has old-fashioned cabin style, but sports modern up-to-date features. There’s LED lighting throughout, and USB charging ports near the front and by the bed.
For heat, Matt installed a wood burning stove. He strategically placed it across from the bed, and hung a fire extinguisher nearby as an extra precaution.
In the back, he stores all of his equipment from pads to climbing ropes. He also added in windows to allow more light to come in near the bed area, and to make the inside feel more spacious.
This has to be one of the most impressive custom conversions we’ve seen. Check out the full tour below from The Indie Projects on Youtube:
