Portable RV Trash Can: The BagRack

This post was updated on March 15th, 2024

I really enjoy products that I never knew I needed. This portable RV trash can – which goes by name ‘The BagRack” definitely falls under that category.

The BagRack was created by a gentleman named Drew Schiller who founded the company which now manufactures the US-made RV and tailgating accessory.

He spent 2 years refining the concept and design elements through a series of trial and errors to arrive at the now domestically available tailgating and RV trash can.

The BagRack is designed to hold any bag with handles. It will also hold handle-less bags as well but we found that it wasn’t as effective, though it still worked.

From the pictures you may come to the same conclusion that I did when I first laid eyes on it. It seems to be a flimsy gimmick that can’t hold more than a few empty cans. I can assure you after you watch the videos below, and I can tell you from use of the BagRack, it is capable of far more than meets the eye.

This RV trash can mounts using 2 different methods: the first is through the use of the molded arms which can go over the top of drawers, RV basement doors, trunks, sides of portable chairs, et cetera.

The second is through the use of the included suction cups which you can apply to any non-porous surface found on a RV, car, truck, boat, camper, or other vehicle.

The arms can be mounted from the top, front, and even underneath of any smooth surface. One of the big selling points for most people is that the BagRack requires no tools for assembly or setup. I was able to take it down and put it up in under 30 seconds.

The BagRack can hold up to 35 lbs without the suction cups and around 8 lbs if using the suction cup mounts.

The key to the BagRack is mounting the arms an appropriate distance apart so to take advantage of the  inherent structural strength of the bag you’re using.  Spread them too wide or too narrow and you won’t get the durability from the BagRack that you should.
