Rand McNally GPS Launches Industry-first RV Navigation App for iPad

This post was updated on May 17th, 2014

RV GPS turns an iPad into a fully functional GPS device for RVs.

I know there are countless RV iPad owners that have been looking for this even if they didnt know it was coming. The new Rand McNally iPad app includes a slew of features for its $99.99 price tag. Very similar in functionality to its flagship RVND™ 7720 LM Rand McNally GPS unit. Of course when considered to the price of the standalone unit it may be a no brainer for most. The app is brand new as of January 9, 2012 so it doesnt have any reviews so if you purchase and are unhappy keep in mind that Apple doesnt have a very friendly return policy but sometimes they will accomadate you. Have a look at this article from Gizmodo on the Apple Return Policy.

Your Ipad must have 3G/4G service for this app to work. It requires a GPS module which is reported to only be available with the units with 3g/4g.

The Rand McNally GPS RV app comes in at a hefty 3.5GB download which means it will take up a considerable amount of space on your device so be aware. The app will also keep your GPS activated in your iPad while its running and that will absolutely chew through your battery as well. Be sure to close the app when not in use. You can do that by double pressing the home button then long pressing the app and selecting the minus sign.
