RV Laundry Rack: The Compact Slimline from Quirky

This post was updated on March 15th, 2024

Another great idea from Quirky.com. A young lady by the name of Leanne Luce, who is a Apparel Design Major at Rhode Island School of Design, created the Slimline compact RV laundry rack. Perfect for the RV given its slim profile, light weight, and portability.

Slimline is a compact laundry drying device that is specially designed for the small spaces like a RV.  It hangs over any door through the use of hooks at the top to fit most doors. It folds neatly against the door its installed on. The design makes its footprint unnoticeable. When its needed, the Slimline folds down with its aluminum rack and offers considerable space for drying items given its size.  This unique design also allowed for the addition of a towel bar that can be used at the bottom in the open and closed position.

Features of the Slimline RV Laundry Rack :

  • Aluminum rack provides a lightweight and durable drying space on demand
  • Very compact, folds neatly against the surface its mounted on
  • Mounting hooks can be implemented over any door. Also could be modified for permanent installation on a cabinet or wall
  • Towel rack that is usable when open or closed
  • Aluminum arms and rack.
  • Brushed metal hinges
  • Molded plastic hanger and hooks
  • Dimensions: 22″ L x 12″ W x 18″ H (open)

First thing to mention is the Slimline is not at all as frail as it looks. The aluminum chassis gives it rigidity despite its size. At the end of the day you can certainly find lower cost alternatives. Though none of the other designs can claim to be this compact or use the same construction materials. Its a shame that we have to pay extra for something that may actually last more than a few uses! We have one on the back of the door in the main bedroom and we could barely live without it now. Very handy for when we have kids around and have to dry more than couple things at a time. It grants us some much needed drying space in a pinch.

If you have some ideas of your own it may be time to get involved. You can earn money just by helping with product development and not necessarily coming up with new ideas. Great for RV’ers looking for a hobby that could bring in a few additional dollars or work-campers.
