1. Take more trips

Don’t let that RV sit idle in the driveway or storage lot. This year make a resolution to take more trips. Even if it’s just a quick weekend outing to your local state park or favorite lakeside campground, make it your goal to pack up the RV, hop in and go!

To make quick spontaneous trips easier, create a custom packing list and keep it handy so you always know what to throw in the RV when it’s time to hit the road.

2. Explore new places

Are you stuck in an RV travel rut? There’s nothing wrong with returning to favorite places year after year, but finding and exploring new destinations can be incredibly rewarding.

Need ideas and inspiration on where to go? Plan your travels with RV LIFE Trip Wizard to find all the campgrounds and points of interest in your area. Or join the discussion on RV forums with active communities like iRV2.com.

3. Get off the beaten path

Do you love camping but sometimes get tired of crowded and noisy campgrounds? Why not get off the beaten path and do some camping out in the wild this year? Even if you’re a diehard fan of RV resorts with pools and paved parking pads, you might be surprised by the enjoyment that comes from camping in a remote place.

Many people love the thrill of boondocking (camping outside a designated campground with no utility hook-ups), while others simply enjoy finding out of the way places to enjoy nature in national forests and BLM land.

If you’ve never tried wild camping, here are a few articles to help you out:

4. Meet new people at the campground

Campers are a friendly bunch of people. You know how when you walk around a campground and everyone greets you with a wave and a hello? Well, why not extend that friendly greeting into a conversation? And then maybe that conversation will turn into an evening around the campfire…or a group hike…or an invitation to dinner. Campgrounds are a great place to make new connections. After all,  you already know you have the love of camping in common!

5. Show your RV some love

So you’ve resolved to take more trips and explore new places this year, but that means your RV needs to be in tip-top shape. Whether you have a brand new RV or a well used relic that’s been in the family for ages, RVs need some love too.

Keep your RV in tip top shape with regular maintenance and inspections. Check the tires, roof, awning, windows, and all the electric systems on a regular basis. Get organized and keep better track of your RV maintenance with an online tool like RV LIFE Maintenance.

Maybe treat your RV to spa day, or refresh the inside with those new curtains you’ve been eyeing, or an upgraded mattress? A little love can go a long way towards keeping your RV in shape. Because after all, without your trusty home on wheels, none of these other resolutions would be possible!

What do you think? Are these RV New Year Resolutions ones you would make and keep? Maybe you have your own set of resolutions related to RV travel for the upcoming year. No matter what your specific RV resolutions and goals are this year, be sure to get out there and have fun!
