This post was updated on March 15th, 2024

SEMA, one of the largest automotive trade shows in the world, was held last month at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The four-day event showcased cars and trucks with all of the latest accessories and customizations.  It also gave companies a chance to show off these beastly campers and off-road RVs.

The LC79 Supertourer sports an all-aluminum body with lots of integrated storage.  It comes with huge toolboxes on the passenger’s side that house a kitchenette, a storage compartment on the driver’s side, and a rear slide-out drawer.  The truck also has a built-in GPS (which is especially helpful for RVing in the outback), and on the roof there’s a pop-up tent with a mattress that can be set up within seconds.

2. Recon Envy’s 2018 Envy Camper Van

From Southern California, Recon Campers was at the show displaying their sleek new 2018 Envy.  The pop-top van sports over seven feet of standing room, three large zipper windows, and a comfy 40″ wide x 88″ long upper bed that sleeps 2-4 people.

The passenger seats also fold down into a bed, beside a cabinet system with a sink and fridge.  The entire van is powered by a 110Ah AGM+ battery and controlled by a touch screen hub where you can see the temperature, and check your fresh water tank levels.

Additionally the van has an outdoor shower and Rhino-Rack roof racks.  Optional features include solar power, an awning, and rear door screens.

3. A.R.E. Modern Adventurer Truck

Combining style and functionality, A.R.E. Accessories debuted their latest project at SEMA: the Modern Adventurer, a custom F-150 truck for weekend warriors.  It’s made with a roof-top tent, truck bed storage, and exterior LED lighting that’s controlled by an iPad.

The truck, built with Ford’s 2.7L EcoBoost engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission, comes with A.R.E. products that have not been released before, like a new truck cap and frameless side windows.  Other features include a K2 cooler, sway bars, and a Kicker speaker system.  Read more about the Modern Adventurer here.

We’ve seen Jeep Wranglers with pop-up tents, but rarely have we seen ones with integrated campers.  American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) is looking to expand the market with their Outpost II on top of a JK350.

The details aren’t finished yet, but they did give a sneak peek at one of the vehicle’s features on their Facebook: a slide-out stove and refrigerator.  More info should be coming out in time for Overland Expo in 2018.

5. EarthRoamer XV-HD

EarthRoamer, the leading maker in luxurious RVs, debuted their new XV-HD at SEMA 2017.  The 4×4 RV is made with the same design as their popular XV-LTS model, but with more space and features.  It’s built with giant fuel and water tanks, and can last all four seasons in any weather.

The vehicles have state-of-the-art interiors with multiple floorplans to choose from.  With all of their luxurious features, the RVs don’t come cheap: the price is currently $1.5 million.
