5 Mouthwateringly Simple Camping Meals You Can Make With 5 Ingredients Or Less

When you’re out camping or RVing, there’s not always a wide selection of ingredients to choose from to create the perfect meal.

And while there are a lot of great recipes out there that require too many foods to pack, there are several other meals you can enjoy that are actually quite minimal!

Next time you’re hungry while out on a trip and only have a little bit of room in your cooler, here are some delectable concoctions you can make from 5 ingredients or less:

1. Southwest Salad

What you’ll need: 

  • Southwest Salad package
  • Corn
  • Black Beans
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • Diced tomatoes

Directions: 

Begin by heating up the corn and black beans (if desired). Then open the salad package and remove the toppings, add the dressing inside the bag, reseal and shake to distribute. After everything is combined, it can be served and topped with corn, black beans, shredded cheese, tomatoes and remaining toppings from the kit which usually includes tortilla strips and a creamy cilantro dressing or sour cream.

2. Burritos

What you’ll need:

  • Tortillas
  • Boneless chicken tenderloin or black beans
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • Hot sauce (optional)

Directions:

If you’re having chicken, grill and cook it thoroughly first. Lay out a tortilla and top with chicken/beans (or both), cheddar cheese, tomatoes and hot sauce, then place onto a flat surface and roll into a burrito. You can cook it wrapped in foil over the fire, or simply on a frying pan over a regular camping stove.

3. Chicken Nachos

What you’ll need:

  • Tortilla chips
  • Boneless chicken tenderloin
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Black beans or corn
  • Diced tomatoes

Directions:

Grill the chicken until thoroughly cooked, then dice. Load a skillet or pan full of tortilla chips and add the chicken in, beans/corn and sprinkle cheese on top. Cover with aluminum foil and place on the grill over medium heat. Cook until the cheese is melted and top with tomatoes!

4. Mac and Cheese

What you’ll need:

  • 2 cups uncooked macaroni
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup dried milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt or pepper (optional)

Directions:

Combine macaroni, water, butter and salt on stove and bring to a boil, then lower the heat and stir until pasta is done to your preference. Add in the dried milk powder and stir, and mix in shredded cheese. Finish by adding in salt/pepper to your liking.

5. Personal pizzas

What you’ll need:

  • Pieces of garlic bread or pita bread
  • Chicken tenderloin or pepperoni
  • Pizza sauce
  • Shredded cheddar cheese

Grill or toast your bread until it’s nice and crisp. Then spread pizza sauce on top and cover with cheddar cheese and cooked chicken or pepperoni. Heat it back up until the cheese has melted and enjoy!
