Smittybilt was showing off their affordable new Overlander trailer camper at SEMA, the annual Specialty Equipment Market Association trade show in Las Vegas.
Sneak Preview: Smittybilt Recon Overlander Trailer Camper
For several decades, Smittybilt has gained a reputation for making tough, all-terrain accessories for jeeps and trucks. Starting next summer they’ll also be known for their rugged new overlander trailer camper they’re calling the “Recon Overlander.”
The Recon Overlander has lockable security vaults for camping cargo.
This off-road accessory is so new it’s not even on Smittybilt’s website or even on the factory floor. The company was showing off this trail-tested prototype. Here’s what you can expect when the real deal hits the showroom.
Take it anywhere your jeep can go.
It’s got a low price point (around $5,000) which gives you:
- 1,200 lb trailer weight
- 3,500 lb total weight capacity
- 31” ProComp All-Terrain Tires
- 17” wheels
- Trailer brakes
- Stabilizing jacks in front and rear
- Heavy-duty slide out generator compartment
- Weatherproof, lockable security storage vault in back with sliding shelves
There’s a special compartment for your generator too!
The Overlander Recon Trailer is topped with Smittybilt’s new Overlander Rooftop Tent and Awning. The all-season, weatherproof tent features mesh windows for ventilation, and a wide, telescoping aluminum ladder. Three adults can sleep comfortably inside and enjoy the included accessories that make camping more fun, like LED lighting, a 12-volt power adapter and sunroof with mosquito net.
The tent weights only 118 lbs, so it doesn’t add a ton of weight to the trailer. When you’re not using it, the tent collapses and rolls up into its own cargo bag.
You can sleep three people in the tent.
Watch for the Smittybilt Recon Overlander trailer camper’s debut next summer!
