After camping at a music festival a few years back (and getting fried by the sun) he searched for a way to add an awning to his van.
Nothing met his requirements – so designed his own!
He made this custom awning system for his Chevy camper van.
So many awnings merely extend from the RV. His awning covers the van, and provides shade for those inside, too!
