Keep Your Electronic Devices Charged With This Easy DC Power Strip Mod For RVs

Do you have a shortage of DC outlets in your RV? If so, this easy DC power strip mod for RVs will solve the problem and keep everyone happy, charging all their devices at the same time.

Our RV is small by many standards and the main living area only has one DC power outlet. This is a problem when we don’t want to turn on our inverter but need to charge our various electronic devices. Our satellite radio plugs into DC power and we often need to charge our two phones, iPad and iPod. To fix the issue, we found a second hand multi-port DC outlet power strip at a yard sale.

You’ll find various options in the Automotive section of Amazon. But these devices are ugly and utilitarian looking, so we built a small wooden box around ours to help it blend into the RV décor.

Who Needs this DC Power Strip Mod for RVs?

Any RVer who does not have an AC power inverter will find this device super handy since it allows you to simultaneously charge multiple DC devices like phones, tablets and laptops.

You can also use it for a portable DC fan to keep cool on hot summer days.

If you do not have “car chargers” for your devices, just purchase a multi-port USB car charger and plug it into this one. Then plug your device’s USB cord into the adapter.

Some RV geeks might want to wire a power strip like this directly into the RV’s DC circuit, but we just plugged the DC power strip into our one DC outlet in the main living area. Now we can charge up several different devices without having to turn on our inverter. It also enables us to transfer our portable satellite radio between our truck and our RV without having to buy extra adapters.

Now all of our devices are continuously powered up, keeping everyone entertained and happy.
