How To Fix A Cracked Windshield Washer Fluid Reservoir

You don’t necessarily have to pay big money to have your RV serviced for a cracked windshield washer fluid reservoir.

To fix the problem yourself, you’ll need just a few tools and materials.

You’ll probably find that silicone sealant and duct tape won’t do a good job of fixing the cracked plastic.

High vibrations and high temperatures make this a more difficult problem than you might think. And your fix will need to withstand the harsh operating environment of your RV’s engine compartment.

Windshield washer fluid reservoirs are usually made of tough, polyethylene plastic.

You can weld plastic back together, but these plastic welding kits cost well over $100.

A less invasive (and costly) solution would be to use a plastic tank repair kit.

How to Use a Plastic Tank Repair Kit

There’s many choices of plastic tank repair kits on the market, here are a few:

Some of these kits take a few minutes to work, while others (like the J-B Weld Putty) harden instantly.

You’ll need to remove the cracked plastic reservoir, clean and dry it thoroughly. Depending on the kit you purchase, prepare the plastic container appropriately.

Or you can do what these guys did, use some epoxy and gauze to get your reservoir back in action for less than $5!
