With some simple materials, blogger nagginginspiration built a heavily-insulated one-man trailer for his reclining bicycle.
To test his new creation, he slept overnight in it, with the temperature going down to about 30 degrees.
While it was below freezing outside, with a small alcohol heater and good insulation, the temperature inside the bicycle camper stayed a balmy 70 degrees.
The over all length is 7′. The first 4′ it is 2′ wide, 38″ at the highest and 33″at the lowest. The last 3′ is 22″ wide by 26″ high. The two window are each 8″x15″ and are scavenged plexiglass.
Gorilla Tape holds everything together!
The black lines are Gorilla Tape that holds together the panels. He’s even been in some rain and snow, and no leaks so far!
Walls are made from 1″ thick Dow Tuff-R insulating board.
Rear view. The two legs support the back end, and are made from steel tubing passed into some wood blocks.
To improve upon the design, he recommends placing the wheels farther back on the body to make towing easier.

With the walls painted white, he installed a couple of small shelves.
This fold-down shelf provides a makeshift cooking area.
In the future, he plans on adding some vents to improve air flow and prevent condensation from his own body heat.
All-in-all, a functional, on-the-cheap camper!
I have a feeling I’ll keep adding stuff to the Pedal-Inn =)
