Jay Leno Goes For A Ride In Comedian Gabriel Iglesias’ 1966 Volkswagen [Video]

This post was updated on March 19th, 2024

One of Jay Leno’s favorite comedians, Gabriel Iglesias – also known as Fluffy – stopped by for a visit to show off his sweet 1966 Volkswagen Samba.

As you can probably imagine, the conversation between the two guys is entertaining by itself. Gabriel talks about what it’s like to do stand-up comedy in all of the countries he’s toured in, how he learned to use a stick-shift from his sister, and how his brother helped him get his very first car, a 1968 Volkswagen Transporter.

Eventually he decided to sell it for something more reliable, but he missed the Volkswagen bus from the moment he parted with it. So it was only right that years down the road, he got another one, this time from 1966.

With only 53hp, the Samba isn’t a powerful, speedy ride, but more of a fun, easygoing cruiser, with enough room to seat eight people. But enough with the details. Check out Iglesias’ classic, 21-window bus for yourself in this episode of Jay Leno’s Garage:

I would love to take this classic bus for a spin! What about you? What was your very first car – and do you ever miss driving it?
