Rowan Oak was the Mississippi home of Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winner William Faulkner.

He bought the Greek revival house in 1930 and spent three decades renovating it himself while writing many of his masterpieces, including The Sound and the Fury, As I Lay Dying and Light in August.

Faulkner was famous for penning his works on the walls of the unfinished house, and today you can still see the handwritten outline of A Fable on the walls of the study.
