Simple Privacy RV Curtains Modification Installed in Minutes

This post was updated on March 15th, 2024

For those times that a super secret disciplinary meeting needs to happen on the road for your passengers that “got out of line” or you just to like to keep the cabin more serene for those passengers snoozing during your travels comes a simple mod for privacy RV curtains from Roadtrek Life. They took a IKEA curtain track and mounted it to the bottom of the overhead cabinet in their Roadtrek Agile SS and installed some black out RV curtains. A neat idea and one that can be completed in a matter of minutes for additional privacy.

If you happen to have a Class A motorhome then we thought that you may not find as much use for this RV mod. But, after considering that this idea can be used to create really any type of “partition” inside a RV, it could make sense for giving people privacy in a sleeping area, converted office space, or even if you have folks that like to take naps in the loungers while other things are going on in the RV like cooking or cleaning. For example, when smaller kids stay over, we would set a cot across the two front seats as a bed for one of them. Having something like this would have been great to close off the sleeping area. There may be some unique uses inside a toy hauler garage as well!

The clever implementation for RV curtains as it can be closed and opened in seconds with one hand. The standard draw curtains that cover the windshields of most Class A, B, and C motorhomes are slow to get out and labor intensive at times. Though the example photos use IKEA hardware (curtain rod and mounting brackets) and a Home Depot purchased RV curtain, we have seen similar hardware and curtains at Amazon.com, Wal-Mart, and other retailers if IKEA is not in your area.

  1. This would also work to keep the cockpit cooler during hot days when I am running the dash A/C and I don’t want to run the generator. Good idea.
