RV Reviews: The Best Resources for Finding The Right RV

This post was updated on March 15th, 2024

4. ROAMING TIMES RV REVIEWS

rv-reviews-roamingtimes

The Roaming Times offers a hodge podge of reviews on different RV’s which are a little more difficult to navigate than some of the others listed here. Many of the “reviews” are mostly data about the RV specifications and features. Not much testing or opinion is offered. A nice feature is that users can offer their comments on each RV review. So below many of the reviews are comments about the quality or offering to buy or sell the model being reviewed.

5. TRAILER LIFE RV REVIEWS

rv-reviews-trailerlife

The timeless periodical TrailerLife has more than just RV reviews. If you aren’t familiar with the magazine, it offers a full array of information about all things associated with owning and enjoying a travel trailer. The travel trailer reviews it features are more robust than some of the other options available. They show floor plans, photos, specifications, and typically go to great lengths to explain the unique features of the reviewed RV. If you get the magazine then you know that you only get few reviews over the course of a year. The best place to look is the website which has a review database that goes back to the year 2000. Though not even close to a complete review collection it does have most of the popular travel trailers reviewed.

6. MOTORHOME MAGAZINE REVIEWS

Motorhome Magazine is the older brother to TrailerLife. Motorhome Magazine strictly offers reviews of motorhomes only. They have reviews on models going back to 2000 as well. Much like TrailerLife the reviews are robust. They offer several photos, floor plan information, specifications, and feature highlighting among other information. Motorhome Magazine offers their reviews in print as well but yet again the website is a much better place to access the information. They don’t review all the motorhomes out there but they get to many of the more popular models.

Class A, Class B, and Class C Motorhomes.

7. FMCA MAGAZINE MOTORHOME REVIEWS

Since 1964 Family Motor Coaching Magazine has been arriving in mailboxes across the US as part of FMCA membership. It is now available without a membership as well. On their website they offer an array of motorhome reviews from every class of motorhome. They offer much of the same information and perspective as others on our list. Their listings on average are not as robust as Motorhome Magazine but may be a great place to do some initial research. They offer RV reviews of models going back to 2002 and they average about one new review every month to correspond to their magazine circulation.

8. RV REVIEWS ON MESSAGE BOARDS AND RV FORUMS

RV-forums-forum

Sometimes the best type of information is word of mouth RV reviews from folks who have owned them. We encourage you to visit the brand specific online message boards and forums for the RV’s you are interested in to narrow your search. This is a great way to get into the details with actual owners about what they like, the maintenance issues, and usability. Use the link above to visit a listing of RV forums where you can either see previous remarks about RV’s or start your own conversation about a model you are considering.

  1. We had NO problem with RV Consumer Group. Downloading the guide was tricky, but we figured it out. It has been very helpful to us.

  2. I used them (before I read your quote) in 2012 and got what I needed. When I switched computers recently and lost the reviews database, I sent them an email and they responded on a Sunday with the 2014 version of what I had bought.
I guess we had completely opposite experiences. huh

  3. Stay away from RV Consumer Group (RV.org). Despite having 501 C (3) status as a non-profit, here’s how they “make money”. You order a product from them, then they fail to deliver the downloadable product. They have no contact phone number, only email they don’t reply to. Total ripoff artists, preying on those who seek their wisdom and advice. I am disputing the charge on my CC stating RV Consumer Group as a fraudulent organization. They stole my $78
