RV Steering Wheel Table Mod: Don’t You Need Another Place for Stuff?

Lets face it. We all have stuff, some more than others but we all need to put it somewhere. This RV steering wheel table mod is just the right type of addition to your motorhome to create a nice place for that stuff. Everything about this idea is custom. Every steering wheel, front seat, dash, and needs are different. Custom is a necessity in this case. Creating a custom RV mod steering wheel table like happens to be quite simple. Simple if you source out your parts. If you go it alone simple may go right out the window.

For the RV Steering Wheel Table Mod you will need the following:

1. Table Top – Most motorhomes have room for a 16” to 24” diameter table. Measure twice and buy once! Most of the RV mods I have seen either purchase this RV table from Wal-Mart or Amazon. If you want something a little higher quality you can grab a solid wood table top at 16” or 22” diameters.

2. Choose the Method of Keeping Your New RV Steering Wheel Table Level – Many use blocks of wood (shown in photos above), hacked off table legs, or broom sticks (also shown above). Some motorhome steering wheels can adjust to a perfectly level surface which makes it just a few pieces of Velcro or broom clips (See #3). You can choose what works best for you. Our attempt at the RV steering wheel mod  left us with a cornucopia of everything to keep it level and to get it the way we wanted it.

3. Choose Your Method for Keeping it Stable and Secure –  We have seen Velcro, Broom Clips, Coat hooks, and countless other thoughts. We ended up with vinyl coated broom clips and a little industrial Velcro.

If you go with the RV steering wheel table from Amazon or Wal-Mart it comes with table legs and brackets which serve useful for leveling your new steering wheel table. The legs can also be removed during storage. Some variations of those tables have fold down legs as well. The basis of this RV mod is to take a table top and use whatever your most comfortable with to create an level, stable, usable surface that you and your family can load up with stuff. Its all about stuff!

When its all said and done the RV steering wheel mod should run from $25 to $50 depending on which materials you choose.

If you don’t think RV steering wheel tables are a big deal then you may be surprised to find there is a US patent for one dating back to 1989.
