Have you ever been outside on a fall or winter’s day and witnessed thousands of starlings flying together in formation, swarming over a field?
Murmurations, as the events are called, can sometimes include over a million birds! The one below shows an estimated 70,000 starlings twisting and turning in near unison over a field in the United Kingdom.
The swarm looks quite similar to a school of fish darting through the water. How they don’t run into each other, I’ll never believe!
