A tornado recently tore through an RV storage lot in Falcon, Colorado, causing an estimated half a million dollars worth of property damage. Surveillance footage captured the storm flipping over several RVs and sending them flying across the lot. Luckily, no injuries were reported.
The business owner told local news that it was the worst storm he has seen in the last 15 years of owning the business. “We rent storage space to dozens of RV, camper and vehicle owners. Many of the vehicles were flipped over or heavily damaged by the strong winds. Much of our wooden perimeter fence is down. Windows were blown out. It’s a huge mess.“
This is just the beginning of tornado season. Although they can happen any time of year, the worst tornadoes tend to strike between March through May in the southern states and during the summer in the northern states.
If you plan on visiting areas that are known for serious summer storms, carry a hand-crank weather radio and be ready to get out of your RV at a moment’s notice and seek a tornado shelter nearby.
