When This Trailer Got Hung Up On A Curb You’d Bet It Would Never Come Free

No matter what anyone says, towing a large trailer is never easy.

There’s always the potential for something to go wrong.

In this case, a driver turned too soon while coming out of a parking lot, and his trailer started to slide down into a ditch.

As it made its way to the bottom of the ditch, the trailer got caught up on a 3 foot section of concrete culvert.

I bet next time the owner of this RV pulls out from a store’s parking lot, he’ll make sure he’s got enough room for his trailer to round the bend.

Here’s what the tow truck operator who video taped the scene had to say,

The culvert kicked up and was between his axles on the right side pointing straight up. The culvert was full of mud and heavy.

I backed into the ditch thinking I would be able to use my wheel lift to raise the springs up high enough to pull the debris out. Problem with this was by the time I got my truck in the ditch I didn’t have enough lift to do any good.

I reset my truck used one line and a small hook to go into the wheel on the rear axle. I extended the boom out and proceeded to gently lift the trailer high enough to roll the culvert out.

A local helped me we hooked the culvert to his truck and pulled it out from under the unit. The concrete curb was only 2 feet long and the owner of the trailer and myself were able to pull it out between the tires. He managed to pull the trailer out of the ditch using just his Ford truck.
