If you think about it, we spend nearly a third of our lives asleep. With an average of 8 out of 24 hours a day dozing, it’s important to get a great night’s sleep no matter where we are. Whether you’re a fulltime RVer or just like to head out for a trip once in awhile, here are some simple tips to help improve your sleep for the next night you spend in the great outdoors:
1. First and foremost – sleep in your RV, rather than a tent.
Obviously a homey bed is much more likely to provide a better slumber overall than the ground outside. Memory foam can be especially helpful! Besides, who could argue against a fluffy pillow, warm blanket and mattress?
2. Head outside during the day.
By hiking and walking around all day, you’re bound to become exhausted. Once you get back to your RV, you’ll definitely be ready to hit the hay. If not, a bottle of wine or couple of beers definitely won’t hurt.
3. Control the temperature.
Even at home, a temperature too hot or too cold can definitely play a huge role in our sleep. If you’re shivering or sweating, you’ll certainly be uncomfortable and find trouble falling or staying asleep. If you need to, cracking open a window or bringing along extra blankets will make for a much more cozy evening.
4. Bring your own pillows from home.
Rather than using pillows specifically for your RV or traveling, simply bringing along the pillow you’re used to from home can result in a better night’s sleep. After a long, tiring day out and about, curling up with the familiar head rest will make you feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud.
5. And lastly, bring along some entertainment.
Whether it’s a book, movie, or some kind of game, simple entertainment before bedtime will definitely help you relax and unwind after a day of exploring. Try bringing along a new movie like one of these RV Movies that you’ve never seen to add to the experience of the overall trip.
