Get Your RV Degree Before You Hit the Road

So you’ve bought into the RV lifestyle. Perhaps it was fueled by the COVID pandemic, perhaps not. Maybe you grew up with road trips in the family wagon and this seemed like the most logical next step. You’re ready to Go RVing, but you don’t know how.

Learning how to RV is a broad and varied topic. To be sure, finding campgrounds is step one. You’re reasonably sure you know how to eat and sleep, most have been doing that for years. However it’s all the RV stuff in between that’s a mystery to most.

You’ve started researching, and are somewhat overwhelmed. You’ve tried Facebook for RV help, but that was kind of a mess. You have serious questions about black tanks, shore power, leveling, driving…and what the heck is boondocking?

RV Education 101 – It Starts With The RV

It stands to reason that to go RVing you need an RV. We’ll assume that if your neighbor or best friend has lent you their motorhome, travel trailer, or 5th wheel, they will have provided a sufficient mix of fear and information to get you on your way.

For the rest, buying or renting an RV is the next option. Renting is easy, typically from a company like Outdoorsy. You’ll get great information, as well as a good insurance policy, before renting an RV.

The RV buyers in the crowd will want help with that step right away. For that, we recommend this video course called RV 101 – How to Buy the Right RV and Save Thousands.

I Have An RV, Now Can I Go RVing?

Now that you have an RV it’s time to drive or pull it. Presumably you have found a campground to drive to by going to CampgroundReviews.com or using tools like RV LIFE Trip Wizard. The next step is to drive that motorhome, or pull your travel trailer or 5th wheel.

Fortunately, there are courses available to help you with all of those. For you motorhome owners, give Drive Your Motorhome Like A Pro a try. If you are towing, you’ll want to look at Tow Your Travel Trailer Like A Pro, or Tow Your 5th Wheel Like A Pro.

As you’ll discover, these videos are put out by the folks at RV Education 101. Mark and Dawn Polk are at the top of the pyramid when it comes to teaching you how to go RVing.
