Use A RV Ceiling Cargo Net To Add Function to Wasted Space

This post was updated on March 15th, 2024

If you have a truck or a  SUV then you probably are all too familiar with a cargo net. A wonderful invention that allows you to suspend items in your truck bed so they don’t violently move around as you drive. These nets are used to hold cargo to the bed or the sides of the vehicle traditionally. They serve as incredibly versatile tools for temporary storage.

A reader by the name of Jeff G. from Louisville, KY shared an idea with us recently that was quite outside the box. He used a cargo net not for a truck bed or trunk, but to fasten to the ceiling over his bunks and the couch in his living area. Initially it sounds like an eyesore, but if you purchase high quality cargo netting, it should allow for enough stretch to retract out of sight when not in use.

A Ceiling Cargo Net Can Easily Store:
  • Pillows
  • Kitchen Items
  • Pet Supplies
  • Jackets
  • Small Electronics
  • Other small lightweight items

Jeff found that installing cargo netting above each of his bunk beds became a great place for each of his kids to stow toys, games, toiletries, and clothes. It also gives them a private area where there belongings wont be in the way. The installation in his kitchen is used for the camera, phone chargers, flash light, and leashes for the dogs.

We could see this being great in a RV basement mounted to the roof of storage compartments and even on the ceiling above the master bed.

Many great netting options here.

What are your thoughts? What other ways can you see this being helpful in your RV?
