Some interior features of RV’s leave something to be desired. The RV shade valence window treatments are one of those very sticking points. We have had several frustrating experiences with our over the years. We have had them come loose, upholstery detaches, or just plain fall apart. The RV remodel experts at TruLine RV showed off a Monaco Executive where they replaced all the RV shade valence window treatments with custom made cherry wood. Each RV valence is custom crafted by hand. They stain and finish the pieces custom for each window and reinstalled them to match the current interior. There is really no comparison between the standard upholstered valence and these new custom cherry wood RV shade valence window treatments.
There may be those among you that are curious how these go together and what they look like finished. Below you will find a series of images provided by TruLine RV to give you an idea of the steps involved in building your own custom cherry wood RV shade valence window treatments.

After the last issue I had with mine we started looking for examples and we are certain this is the way to go. Most folks are much more comfortable working with wood rather than finishing with upholstery anyway. The wood wont be cheap but we may decide to paint our rather than stain them. Painting should make it much simpler to maintain and repair. The trouble is the interior design police have to approve otherwise its a moot point. If you have completed something similar we would love to see it. Please send pictures and a description in the comments section or you can contact us via email.
