Not everyone can afford to buy or tow around an Airstream. If you really want to experience one of these sleek trailers, there are several new Airstream hotels that have recently opened up. These unique hotels and where they are located are destinations in themselves. They also include everything to make camping a luxurious experience.
There are many vintage trailer hotels around the country, but these five locations are just for the iconic silver bullet trailer made famous by Wally Byam in the 1930s. They feature several trailers for rent, shared or private bathrooms, communal areas, and special events. In addition, they are close to beautiful destinations such as Yosemite National Park and Salida, Colorado.
1. Amigo Motor Lodge
The classic motor lodge is alive and well…with a few additions. The Amigo Motor Lodge is a newly renovated boutique motel located in Salida, Colorado. The property includes the original 60-year-old lodge as well as a teepee, hot tub, sunroom, and several Airstreams for rent.
Named Francis, Merle, PeeWee, and Velma, the trailer “rooms” are parked in the back of the motor lodge. The Airstreams were gutted and restored by Colorado Caravan and include electricity, custom interiors, minimalist interiors, and wood floors.
2. Hart’s Camp
Located in Pacific City, Oregon, Hart’s Camp features seven unique Airstreams. All of their trailers have a cute name and include a private site, public outdoor space, and a beautiful interior.
Choose from Arrowhead, a 1971 Land Yacht Sovereign with hardwood floors and a leather sofa, or the brand new Flying Cloud named Knapsack. This trailer has a queen bed and stainless steel appliances.
Each trailer has a full indoor kitchen and bathroom with a shower, an A/C unit, dishes and cookware, and luxury linens. Some of them have televisions and accept pets. The resort even rents out bikes for tours around the town.
3. AutoCamp Yosemite
AutoCamp already has two locations in Santa Barbara and Guerneville, California. Both these locations have access to the Pacific Coast and offer luxurious Airstream accommodations.
The newest AutoCamp location is close to one of the most popular national parks in the country. Autocamp Yosemite features custom Airstream “suites” with spa-like bathrooms and chic interiors.
The resort also features luxury canvas tents with beds and wood burning stoves. There are also cabins and a clubhouse, community fire pits, and a heated pool. This is the epitome of glamping.
Furthermore, AutoCamp has recently raised $115 million to build a nationwide network of Airstream hotels in conjunction with Thor Industries, the manufacturers of the silver trailers.
4. Olympic Airstream Getaways
If you are not really the resort type and just want to try out an Airstream for a weekend or longer, check out Olympic Airstream Getaways. This company located in Port Townsend, Washington will deliver one of their Airstreams to your chosen campsite on the Olympic Peninsula.
Everything is included such as a fully stocked kitchen, towels, and luxurious bedding. All you need to bring is food and personal items. Olympic Airstream Getaways have two Bambis for rent including a classic 19’ and a modern 22’ Sport. Above all, there’s no need to learn to how to tow or back these trailers up.
