One of the greatest perks of traveling by RV is the ability to bring all of the comforts of home with you on the road, and for many people that means bringing the family dog. Many RV parks have added pet friendly policies over the last decade, as dogs have become more than mere pets and are considered family members by many people.
Lake George RV Park has taken “pet friendly” camping to a whole new level with its on-site 2 acre off-leash dog park. Both their two-legged and four-legged visitors have enjoyed the amazing amenities since “Charlie’s Bark Park” opened in the summer of 2014.
Guests are so excited about the Bark Park the video below has been viewed over 80,000 times on Facebook by dog loving RV owners!
The dog park features designated areas for large and small dogs, as well as a restroom for human companions. You also find a pet treat and toy vending machine, an indoor dog wash station, a spray fountain splash pad, agility equipment, vehicle restricted walking paths, and a 10,000 square foot synthetic turf play area. The best part is the dog area is open from dawn to dusk every day, and doesn’t cost anything extra for guests to use!
Dogs love the bark park amenities, including a huge play area.

18 agility stations at the bark park are a great workout for camper-bound dogs.
Guests with dogs are greeted with treats, and the dog park and amenities are centrally located near all of the campsites. The campground itself features a large network of paved walking trails and hiking trails where guests are welcome to explore with their dogs.
Dogs are also welcome in the indoor spaces at the RV Park, including the café, lodge, and general store – a virtually unheard of luxury for pet owners at campgrounds. Lap-sized dogs can even join their owners on the park’s complimentary paddle boats and trolley bus shuttles.
The vending machines have dog treats and toys, right next to sodas and snacks!
The RV Park itself has so much for owners to enjoy both with and without their pets that it’s almost a destination in itself. You’ll want to get out at least a little though, as the park is located at the gateway to the Adirondack Park in the Lake George–Adirondack region, a great area for people traveling with dogs.
The indoor dog washing station is a great pet perk since bathing a dog in an RV bathroom is nearly impossible.
The Adirondack Park covers 6 million acres of protected forest land, offering unlimited opportunities for hiking and nature walks with your canine companion. There is even a “Dog Beach” at the Lake George Village on Lake George, which welcomes dogs to swim and play in the crystal clear water with a fabulous view.
Day trips to nearby Lake Placid and Saratoga Springs are great outings for dog owners as well, as many of the local shops and restaurants in both of the quaint towns welcome dogs to join their owners for shopping and dining.

Owner David King tells us everyone loves the bark park,
Our guests are ecstatic about the Bark Park. Even guests that do not typically visit dog parks in other locations have indicated that ours is so clean, fun, and beautiful they just have to take their dog. One guest recently commented that the only improvement he could suggest is creating a bypass road to our entrance from his campsite area so he could drive in and out of the park without always passing our Bark Park since his dog insists on stopping by every time they pass by!
Wish there was one in the Western or Southwestern states. We’d be there every year!!
Looks like a great place to take our two Brittanys! The only thing I’m concerned about is the treat vending machine. I hope they don’t allow food, either dog treats or people food, in the bark park. Some dogs could become aggressive when food is present.
