10 Best S’mores Recipes For Your Next Camping Trip

Hiking, swimming, and sitting around a campfire are all pretty essential camping activities that most of us would agree we simply can’t do without. That said, there is one activity that stands out as even more necessary to any camping trip: making and eating s’mores.

It’s true, no camping trip would be complete without at least one delicious, melty s’more. Very few things can beat that warm, gooey dessert after a dinner of grilled hot dogs or burgers.

That said, there’s no reason you can’t get a bit creative with the traditional recipe to mix up your camping treats a bit. In fact, we’d even recommend it.

S’mores recipes with a twist

First, we will discuss some of our favorite twists on the classic s’more. These ideas are super simple, yet yield some amazing results. Feel free to take what you see here and run with it. You might just create the best s’mores recipes yet.

1. Fudge Stripe S’mores

This is one we’ve seen done by campers all across the country. We love it because it’s simpler than a traditional s’more, but still just as delicious.

To make a fudge stripe s’more, simply wedge a roasted marshmallow between two Keebler Fudge Stripe Cookies, making sure the bottoms of the cookies are facing in. The marshmallow melts the chocolate on the cookie bottoms, creating that melty goodness we all love without any need for a chocolate bar.

2. Peppermint S’mores

One of our absolute favorite flavor combinations is peppermint and chocolate, especially during the holidays. Therefore, it only made sense to include a peppermint chocolate s’mores recipe on our list. To make this one, you’ll need three things:

  1. Graham crackers
  2. Dark chocolate peppermint bark
  3. Peppermint marshmallows

Use these ingredients to assemble a s’more sandwich as you normally would, and enjoy the minty, chocolatey s’mores you’ve created.

3. Peanut Butter S’mores

Another fantastic flavor combination is peanut butter and chocolate. For this one, you have a couple of options. You can either assemble the sandwich as usual but adding a smear of peanut butter to one graham cracker, or you can opt to use a regular size Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup in place of the usual chocolate bar. Some people also prefer to use chocolate graham crackers in lieu of honey grahams.

4. Triple Chocolate S’mores

Sometimes you just need a little extra chocolate in your life. This is where triple chocolate s’mores come into play. These incredible treats pack as much chocolate as possible into one divine dessert that you’ll want to enjoy time and time again.

To make a triple chocolate s’mores, you will need:

Use these three treats to assemble s’mores and create something magical.

5. Strawberry Banana S’mores

Feeling fruity? Strawberry banana s’mores might be just the thing. Create these simply by adding slices of strawberry and banana to a regular s’mores.

For even more deliciousness, consider adding a smear of Nutella to one of the graham crackers. Either way, you’re sure to adore the flavor of chocolate-covered strawberries and bananas mixed with the gooey sweetness that is a toasted marshmallow.

6. Cookie S’mores

Those looking for a simple way to mix up their traditional campfire treat need only look as far as their pantry. Just pull out whatever cookies you have inside and use them in place of graham crackers.

This adds new depth to the classic dessert, and if you have enough different kinds of cookies on hand, it gives everyone the opportunity to create their own version.

Other s’mores recipes

What if you want s’mores but don’t want to enjoy them in sandwich form? Not to worry! There are plenty of other ways to get that perfect chocolate, marshmallow, and graham cracker flavor combination.

Three of our favorite s’mores recipes are listed below.

7. S’mores Dip

This incredible s’mores dip is the perfect way to make s’mores for a group of people. It allows everyone to decide exactly how much they’d like to eat and really cuts back on mess. Best of all, it can be served with a variety of dipping snacks, allowing everyone to customize their own dessert.

8. S’mores Pudgy Pies

Making pudgy pies in a pie iron over a campfire is a super fun camping activity. Most people do this with fruit fillings, but there is absolutely no reason you couldn’t make s’mores pies. In fact, we think the s’mores version of these pies might just be the best version out there. After all, who could resist melted chocolate and gooey marshmallow wrapped up nice and neat in a little pocket?

9. S’mores bars

Another delicious option is s’mores bars. These are ideal for those who like to take their treats on-the-go. They can be packed in a bag for a hike, or enjoyed as an after-dinner treat when building a fire is out of the question. They can also be eaten around the fire when you just aren’t in the mood to assemble sandwich after sandwich.

10. Set up a s’mores bar

Still haven’t found that one perfect s’mores recipe? Why not enlist the help of friends? A s’mores party during your next camping trip could be just the thing to bring people together and inspire them to create some awesome desserts you never would have dreamed up.

Set up a s’mores bar with tons of cookies, crackers, candies, fruits, spreads, and other toppings and let your guests go wild. You’ll all have an awesome time, everyone can create their own version of the perfect s’more sandwich, and new camping memories will be made.
