Fire Up This Portable Grill For Easy Summer BBQs

This post was updated on March 15th, 2024

A quality portable grill is a must-have for any RVer. Many times in the middle of summer, or on a scorching hot day while boondocking in the desert, cooking in a compact RV kitchen is not ideal. Taking your cooking outside is almost essential to avoid cooking yourself in the process.

Some campgrounds have their own provided grills at each campsite, but bringing your own portable grill proves to be useful in many situations. You can cook what you want, when you want, wherever you want. Portable grills can be taken fishing, backpacking, tailgating, boating, hiking, on picnics, beaches, and beyond.

One of the latest portable grills to hit the market is the revolutionary new GoBQ charcoal grill.

The GoBQ is easy to set up and use.

Weighing in at just 9 lbs, the lightweight GoBQ has an innovative space-saving design that folds up small enough to fit in a backpack, drawer, or overhead compartment. Pull it out of your RV and the grill takes just 20 seconds to set up for cooking, no tools required.

Despite its compact design, the GoBQ does not sacrifice functionality: the 14” grill has enough cooking space and lid clearance to cook 24 hot dogs, 6 burgers, 2 racks of ribs or a whole chicken.

The grill is constructed of a flame-resistant, silicone-coated fiberglass fabric, along with a fold-up fabric lid, steel charcoal basket, steel roll-up grate, and ember guard.

The GoBQ is super easy to use: just unbuckle and snap open the lid, unfold the base of the grill, and add in some charcoal. Then place the grate into position on the base of the grill, throw on a few burgers, and fire it up.

An ingenious design

What really sets the GoBQ apart from other portable grills is the compact design with its own lid. As the company advertises, “The GoBQ grill’s high clearance lid keeps the weather out and the heat and smoky goodness in!”

The GoBQ is the ultimate portable charcoal grill

When you’re done cooking, the grill folds down to 17% of its volume and can be easily transported with its included carrying strap. It stows away easily in most RV compartments and cabinets, taking up less space than most other portable grills and camping stoves.

The company even advertises that the GoBQ is compact enough to take on a plane and can fit in a TSA security bin (however, they emphasize DO NOT bring charcoal, matches, or lighter fluid or you’ll be detained—get those supplies at your destination).

The GoBQ can be used anywhere

The GoBQ has gained several 5-star reviews on Amazon. One reviewer shared this great tip:

The folding style is extremely compact, the heat-resistant fabric is a brilliant material choice, the chain maille style charcoal basket is so clever and functional, the one-way rollable grill… it’s just all brilliant. They even include a panel of fabric that snaps into place under the charcoal basket to enhance durability. I put one sheet of aluminum foil under as well to help with clean up and to help reflect heat upwards.”
