Keystone Outdoor Gear Introduces Customizable 3D Printed Outdoor Accessories

Much like ChatGPT is changing the way people think, search, and write, 3D printing is changing the way manufacturers can create and offer products. Companies with thoughtful designers and 3D printing can respond quickly to customer needs and put products that didn’t even exist on the shelf in days rather than months. Such is the case with Keystone Outdoor Gear and their latest additions to their TakTable and its line of accessories.

What is TakTable?

The TakTableâ„¢ is a clever RV camping table. On its own, the TakTable from Keystone Outdoor Gear Coâ„¢ is an incredibly strong and lightweight aluminum table, weighing only 11 lbs, yet capable of supporting up to 270 lbs.

The TakTable is not only strong, but it folds down significantly and is customizable. Its metal tabletop has a precision feel and can be cleaned completely, unlike wood or some plastics. It also won’t wilt when near the ever-popular campfire.

Customize your outdoor gear

Part of TakTable’s allure is not only the folding capability, but the customization. This customization comes from not only being able to connect multiple TakTables together, but to outfit them with 3D printed accessories.

Using its special attachment rail, available accessories such as cup/wine holders, paper towel holders, and curved rests for fishing rods, guns, or anything else you want to lean against the table without sliding away. This same rail makes it easy to connect multiple tables together, either lengthwise, as in my example photos below, or side by side. This outdoor gear product makes a great field table for hunters and fishermen as well.

3D Printed Accessories

Despite my relatively geeky background, I’ve never really had any hands-on experience with 3D printing, nor have I actually seen or held items printed in this manner, until now. I found the various 3D items available to be quite sturdy and heavier than I imagined.

I noted in particular that the diamond-shaped portion of the accessory designed to go into the attachment rail and twist to lock was very strong, and I felt like I had solidly engaged the two pieces together properly. The same sturdiness was felt when I locked two TakTables together. I chose to connect them lengthwise to fit in a particular spot I had intended for them. They will also connect side by side, as mentioned.

Setting up the TakTable

Having originally seen the TakTable a few months ago, I had forgotten how absolutely simple it was to unfold the TakTable and start using it. It’s really quite brilliant.

Each table came in a reusable drawstring bag, much like you might see for a folding chair, as well as a simple white tablecloth. There are also tie-downs for the legs, should you be navigating an unlevel campsite or high winds.

Compact is better

As RVers, any way we can save space is worth pursuing. If we can end up with a metal-surfaced table weighing only 11 lbs. that takes up very little space, it’s a win-win. With the ability to manufacture at will, Keystone Outdoor Gear (aka KOG) is always thinking of new, creative ways to enhance their products, and more exciting accessories are on the way. If you have a great idea for a 3D printed accessory and KOG decides to feature it, you might just receive one for free.
