The driver of this GMC truck thought he saw something fall off of his McKenzie Starwood fifth wheel trailer. When he pulled over to the side of the road, the ground caved in, nearly taking the truck and trailer with it.
Hill Auto Body & Towing out of Ocean Park, Washington came to the rescue, and helped save the day. The top of the trailer was close to a large Spruce, so the tow truck operator first pulled the rear of the stranded truck about six feet towards the road. By pulling the rear of the truck out, the trailer was now clear of the tree.
Hooking a tow line to the rear spade, he gently pulled the truck and trailer free of the ditch. Best part of all – no damage to people or equipment!
I’m not too sure that just any tow truck operator would have been able to prevent that trailer from falling into the spruce tree. He did a great job. It’s amazing, but there wasn’t even a scratch on the truck or fifth wheel.

Hating to show my ignorance, but what and where is “the rear spade” and is it on the pickup, the trailer, or the tow truck?
Thanks
