Tribute to 9-11 Fire Truck RV: Roadworthy Memorial to Never Forget

We have covered dozens and dozens of incredible RV remodels. But none as patriotic, impactful, and over the top as the one we have for you today.

As if a restored fire truck wasn’t already impressive enough, a gentleman by the name of John did the unimaginable and took his restoration project to the next level. He converted a vintage fire truck into a one-of-a-kind tribute to 9-11 in the form of a Fire Truck RV.

This Fire Truck RV has custom written allover it. It’s as shiny red as you could ever hope for, equipped with ladders, enough outdoor storage to challenge most homes, an outdoor sink, outdoor grill station, outdoor LCD TV, retractable awning, and enough diamond plate to build a tank with.

The fire truck RV was built by John on a Ford 3D Apparatus chassis.  The fire truck was previously a pumper truck so the chassis was engineered to hold a significant amount of weight. This is a great feature because this RV has a lot of stuff to carry.

fire-truck-rv-ext-7The level of detail put into the “We Will Never Forget” graphics and other reminders of 9-11 are just more than words can express.

A truly unbelievable sight. But, that is just on the outside. On the inside you will find a total custom build out of the interior.

The owner built in a stacked stone fire place that nearly makes you forget you are standing inside a fire truck.

Inside you will also find custom built-in furniture, countertops, kitchen fixtures, bathroom trimmings, and stainless steel appliances.

The inside of the cab has also been redone. It’s perhaps the most nostalgic place in the whole RV. The interior cab of this fire truck RV looks much as you would imagine it with the traditional steering wheel and column. Not to forget the most important part, the sirens and lights.

The cab is equipped with 2 fire extinguishers, just in case. After all, it would be embarrassing to have a fire that you couldn’t contain wouldn’t it? If you are in the neighborhood, you can stop by and have a look at the RV in person at the Prairie Station Pub and Grill in Hanover Park, IL. However it isn’t always parked outside the pub, so don’t get your hopes up!

We would like to thank John for being so generous with his time. He was gracious enough to  answer questions and provide us with access to the photos you see above. We are taken aback by his patriotism and the amazing way he showed his support with this creation. You can see over 70 more photos of this amazing rolling memorial here and here.
