RV Mail Forwarding: So Many Options and So Much Mail

This post was updated on May 23rd, 2023

At some point most RV’ers have aspirations of taking their RV on the road for a prolonged period time. Full-timing, part-timing,  snow-birding, or whatever other variation of RV travel you enjoy means that you wont be at a permanent location to accept your mail. Your bills, letters, packages, etc need to get to you somehow. Many in the RV community choose to use a RV mail forwarding service to remove the pressure of having friends, family, or the postal service retain and store your valued mail.

What Does a RV Mail Forwarding Service Do?

A RV mail forwarding service simply provides a physical address to send your mail to while your on the road. They then compile and send your mail to you at different intervals based on your personal preferences. Some services offer additional features like online mail viewing, mail scanning,  junk mail sorting, oversize package handling, and other helpful add-ons. Mail forwarding services can also play a crucial role in establishing a fixed location for your drivers license, insurance, and tax liabilities.

Does it Matter Which RV Mail Forwarding Service I Choose?

In short, yes, yes it does. Every service listed in the table below is different in some way. Either in the state it resides in, the pricing, the features, or in general usability. Its important not just to choose your RV mail forwarding service based on cost alone. You may miss some very helpful features by doing so. Be clear on what your getting for the rate your charged.

There is a wide range of pricing for RV mail forwarding services. You can find basic services that start around the $8-12 dollar a month range that offer simple collection and mailing service. When you get into the $15-30 a month range you will find a much higher level of functionality such as online viewing, large package handling, and urgent mail services (Call and have someone read the mail to you).

Online Mail Viewing

One feature that is catching on is the online viewer functionality. This feature comes in two distinct varieties. The first gives you the ability to view your mail online. You can see the sender, the type of mail, etc. Then you can choose whether its something you want to have sent to yourself or discarded. The second and potentially more useful online viewer is that which allows you to see the actual mail itself. You can read the pages and have an online depository of all your mail. This feature means you rarely should need to actually have your mail sent to you.

  1. The no. 1 thing u need in a mail forwarder is security and reliability. I wish the article had mentioned that and done a BBB rating report or some metric to show that. I used one of the services listed here and had major issues. Finally, found one service with an A+ bbb rating- US Global mail and love their service.
