Upgrade Your Camper With These RV Decor Ideas

We all love our RVs, but there’s a constant battle between making them look nice and using space wisely. Sometimes the cutest accent piece just doesn’t fit in anywhere, and we need to look for other ways to style our living room. Luckily, there are plenty of RV decor ideas that don’t take up much space at all!

Most RVs come with all the essential appliances and furniture you need, but the appearance is pretty bland. Most interior designs are varying shades of grey, brown, black, and white. You can always update the fixtures if you want, but adding a bit of your personality to the space is what makes it feel like home.

Below we have some easy and space-efficient ways to decorate your RV. Maybe not all of these will fit in with your particular decorating style, but this list is a good place to get inspiration and plan out your dream interior design. Let’s get decorating!

Plants

Plants are a wonderful way to bring some color and life into your RV. Of course, there won’t be room for massive house plants, and these will be endangered by the constant movement and traffic within your living spaces. However, small plants will fit right into the nooks and crannies of your RV.

If you want to make them extra useful, you might consider creating a small herb garden. This can be affixed next to any window and will keep you supplied with fresh herbs for your meals. Some popular herbs for RVers include basil, rosemary, cilantro, oregano, and parsley. If you want to keep plants in darker parts of your RV, make sure you buy ones that are tolerant of shade.

Sometimes caring for plants is too much hassle. If this is the case, a few fake plants will create a similar effect and won’t require any upkeep. A touch of greenery instantly livens up any interior!

String lights

Another easy way to up your RV decor game is to hang some string lights. RV lights are often quite bright. This can be nice for everyday tasks, but harsh lighting isn’t exactly homey. Some ambient lighting is a great way to create a cozy atmosphere and add some whimsy to your living space.

Because they line the walls and ceiling, these lights also don’t take up much room. You can just install a few Command hooks, hang the lights, and call it a day. There are lots of options to explore when it comes to string lights. If you enjoy the look of small fairy lights, consider these Twinkle Star LEDs. If you’d prefer larger, hardier bulbs that can survive outdoor exposure, maybe you’d prefer these addlon 48 FT Outdoor String Lights.

Wall hangings

Next up, let’s talk about the real estate on your walls. Even though RVs have a lot of cabinets and windows to occupy the majority of the wall space, there are still some blank sections that you can use for RV decor. Wall hangings are a great way to show off your personality and style.

You could display just about anything on the walls. Photographs, posters, artwork, postcards, maps, and even 3D mobiles or models will be right at home. Just make sure everything is properly secured so it won’t fall off during travel. Your unused wall space is a great way to display collections and add splashes of color to the interior.

Accent wall

Speaking of walls, let’s push things a step further and talk about accent walls. These are dedicated spaces in an RV that can serve as focal points and statement pieces. Many people put them in the living room, but they can also have a place in a bathroom or bedroom.

Accent walls are often painted so they stand out from the others. They can also have fun textures and patterns. Some people even paint murals on their walls so that the entire space is a work of art. Others might install wooden boards, ceramic tiles, or other decorative materials.

Rugs

Let’s not overlook the floor when it comes to RV decor. Once again, RV flooring tends to look nice, but it’s pretty bland. If the base design is bothering you, you can try installing fun designs with stick-on tiles and wood panels.

Sometimes you just need a soft touch to tie the space together. Rugs are an easy way to make your RV comfy and cozy.

You can use a single large rug in the main space, or a series of smaller ones in the bedroom, bathroom, and living room. There are even outdoor rugs that are multipurpose and look good inside. These will help slow the spread of dirt on the floors, and they come in plenty of fun colors and designs. If you’re interested in a large option, check out this Reversible Mat from Stylish Camping. A good option for a smaller rug is the KOZYFLY Buffalo Check Rug. These both come in varying colors and sizes, so check them out!

Curtains

Windows are another place to add some decorative features. Curtains may be functional or purely decorative, but they elevate the appearance either way.

If you just want something cute, you can add short patterned curtains to add a little decorative fringe to each window. You can also use longer ones that can block out the sunlight and improve your insulation. Anything works as long as you like it!

Window decals

Window decals are a space-efficient way to add personality to your RV. Birds, stars, butterflies, and other fun additions will make your RV look cute on the inside and outside. Maybe you also want to put up little pumpkins or snowmen for seasonal decorations.

You can even use year-round decals that add privacy and style to your windows. For example, the rabbitgoo Window Privacy Film is a large decal that is partially transparent. It gives your windows a stained glass appearance and prevents anyone from looking in.

Throw pillows/blankets

Who doesn’t love a cozy pillow and blanket? Of course, there’s such a thing as too many throw pillows, especially when you’re dealing with a limited amount of space. But a few pillows and blankets can make your interior feel much more comfortable, and it’s an easy way to incorporate new patterns and textures into the design. In addition, when it’s time for bed, some extra pillows and blankets are always welcome.

Decorative touches

Finally, you can include some easy RV decor by adding decorative touches like fun dish towels, shower curtains, and doormats. These are things you’ll need anyway, and there are plenty of fun options to choose.

You can pick a theme and unify it throughout your floor plan, or give every room a distinct feeling. RV decor is a fun thing to play with, so be sure to have a good time with it!
