The 2018 Cargo Van Conversion Course (CVCC) is coming up this October in Austin, Texas. The live workshop will be covering every step of a van conversion from choosing a van and insulating it to the best types of solar panels and battery systems.

CVCC Live 2018 will be hosted by Ross Lukeman, creator of the online Cargo Van Conversion Course. Ross has worked with over 150 conversion students and spent thousands of hours working on different types of vans, including his own Chevy Cargo Van.

Learn the order of steps to complete your conversion.
He’ll be sharing expert tips on van insulation as well as the four major types of insulation he uses and where to put them. The workshop will also discuss the differences between various types of vans and floor plans to help you decide which one is best for you.

You can learn more about building your own cabinets and see mockups on display for inspiration. The workshop will describe the construction techniques used by professional van shops, as well as the special type of hardware they use.

An operational water system will also be there for you to take a closer look. You can not only get a better idea of what major components you’re going to need but see how they all fit together.

You can additionally get valuable tips on planning out a ventilation strategy and whether or not you should add an A/C. They’ll be recommending a range of heating systems for all budgets, as well as tips for installing them.

For your power needs, you can learn more about the best (and worst) types of solar panels, as well as how to correctly mount them on your roof. They will go over the pros and cons of lead versus lithium batteries and have complete systems set up side-by-side for comparison. In addition, you can learn how to safely install a propane system to run multiple items while you’re camping off the grid.

CVCC Live 2018 will be held from October 12-14 at the Frank Fickett Center just north of downtown Austin. There are areas nearby for stealth camping during the event if you already have a van; if you haven’t decided on one yet, there are also lots of local hotels and tent/RV campgrounds.
