Do-it-yourself conversion kits like this gorgeous setup from ZENVANZ can make it much faster and easier to build out a camper van. Their elegantly designed kit is very simple to install using factory holes, without damaging your van walls, and all of the components can just as easily be removed.
The kits are built with an aluminum exoskeleton, bent bamboo panels, and solid bamboo cabinetry. They have lots of storage room between the seven overhead cabinets (five on the driver’s side, two on the passenger’s side) and three bedside cabinets just below. You can also upgrade to include 1/2-inch bamboo slats for the ceiling.
A bright LED light kit is also included and comes with a remote and WiFi controller. You can optionally add LED lighting inside the upper and bedside cabinets as well.
The galley can easily be installed behind your front cab area. It’s likewise made of solid bamboo cabinetry with a slide-out silverware drawer and a large bamboo and Paperstone countertop that provides lots of space for cooking.
There are also several upgrades you can add to the galley. Extra options include an Isotherm fridge and freezer, two-burner propane cooktop, sink and faucet, and a mounted tabletop.
The three-panel bed system is easily removable and stackable and can be upgraded to include a 7″ Extreme Comfort mattress. A large storage space is designed under the bed to fit oversized items like yoga mats or serve as a doggy den.
There’s also a bamboo step just below the bed that can hide an optional Thetford Porta Potti portable toilet. The step slides away and locks in place to stay concealed when not in use.
ZENVANZ’s kits also come with a wooden drying rack that attaches to the upper panel of your passenger sliding door. Their bamboo racks are built with five fold-out hooks to hold things like wet jackets or socks while they air out and dry. When they’re not being used, the racks can easily fold flat so the sliding door can open and close as normal.
The DIY van conversion kits are currently priced at $18,000. ZENVANZ also has converted 4×4 vans for sale with 300-watt solar panel systems and durable 300Ah Victron LiFePO4 batteries. The vans have thermal insulation, insulated window shades, an air heater, and a fan that help keep the interior at a comfortable temperature year-round.
In addition, the company offers individual components & gear sold separately like the folding bamboo drying racks and black-out window shades. If you need a van for the conversion, they also offer a package with a 2018 Sprinter van and the DIY conversion kit ready to install. For more information, see their website at ZENVANZ.com.
Very nice. I would love one of these. But, their vans seem quite overpriced. I don’t see A/C added in for asking price.
